Memory File - Project Life, Snap and Heidi Swapp..my style!

Oodles of photos to follow.
With all my scrap supplies in transit from Oz to the US.  I have been keeping my scrapping simple.  Enter Heidi Swapp, Project Life and Sn@p Studio's.   With supplies from all three, plus my nifty  pocket photo printer,  and Costco photo service this is is my first Life in the US scrap file.

The picture above is the cover, still a work in progress..but I like where it is going.  Sorry the picture is a little blurry...

When it opens up I have a smaller flip file of the left.  This little folder captures a day trip as we checked out Connecticut.  On the right is a little tribute to my two Labs who have traveled to the USA with us..it was a big journey for them.
These next pictures show  our day at the Submarine Museum.  These pages use Sn@p stick in plastic pockets.  I LOVE these!

I have used Heidi Swapp Memory files and embellishments.

You can see some Tim Holtz embellishments hiding on these pages.

Project Life mini kits along with Sn@p pockets are an awesome way to add extra stuff to pages.

For this page I used a simple card technique, so I could capture show a few photos of my girls and tell the story of their move to the USA.

As part of getting a new car, I had temp plates first in New York State and then in Connecticut.  So to do that I used some Tim Holtz hardware.  And under you can see where I saved a map given to my by the Hire Car company when I first got to New York.

I kept the little paper bag (that I asked for, hehehehe) when I purchased a few souvenirs at Liberty Island from our trip to see the Statue of Liberty.  It's a great scrappable.

Not only do I have a great scrap page I also have a cool pocket to keep things in.

I used every surface to add notes and brochures.

Again another paper bag that makes for a great memory.  This is the food section of my file.  So I have lots of brochures and some pictures....I Love how this came together.

Dont you just love these Sn@ap these photo flips!  These are from a variety pack.
And used with project life it is so quick to add journalling.

And as you can see here you can just keep open the brochures to see more brochures...cool!

I hope you enjoyed this look at my most recent project.

Thanks for visiting!

Prima Art Venture 2014 - The missed opportunity, the kits and finally the glee

I booked early for the California Prima Art Venture scheduled for January this year and I can tell you I was excited for the better part of six months, I anticipated the event with glee...  But as luck would have to have it...I never made it to LA in January .  This was pretty disappointing but life happens..

Luckily for me, the people at Prima were awesome, they sent me all the goodies from the retreat.  And those goodies came today.  Opening the box was soooo exciting, inside were these awesome pizza boxes which look totally cool and have one thinking how to reuse them - they certainly cant be discarded!

Five project kits in Pizza boxes, each kit focused on a different Prima Collection...more detail about each kit in posts to follow (I plan to work through them kit by kit).  Each of these kits includes an instruction sheet fro the project - I did see lots of great goodies like stamps and stencils as I browsed the boxes.

The last kit was in a big plastic bag - I am pretty sure this is the kit from Finabar's class and she is not an instruction kind of gal...I am told that class was more hands on and visual...no worries I can have lots of fun with that.  This kits had not 1 but 4 stencils...Yippee ( More Happy dance), a book and embellishments...ooh!
Also in my big box of goodies were some gifts from Prima.  An awesome canvas tote full of goodness like an Ingvil Bolme distressing tool and craft knife (both formally on my wish list - pretty cool), scissors, two bottles of Glue (scotch and fabri tac), pop dots..

Also a Prima bag brimming with more goodness, paper pads paints, ink pads, flowers, embellishments, mediums.

Needless to say...I have lots of projects to work on now...

Happy crafting

Elle's Update: Oh, what a day!

It's been a while since I posted just for the sake of blogging.  Mostly I keep a blog to post my craft projects. Every now and then I post about my fur babies or something exciting.  Today I just need to get my day off my mind and out into the universe.

For reason, too many to explain, we have had several nights of late nights.  Then today we had an early start,  my gorgeous golden girl needed to go to the vet.  Amber needed 2 procedures A tooth extraction and to a huge fluid tumour removed for her front leg...  I should mentioned I am a very nervous mum when my babies are at the vet and I always want them home the first minute I can.  So my first upset of the day was not being able to pick Amber up til very late afternoon, no early appointments left for collection.  Sigh.

Next, off to pout the car in for service.  That went well.  Dropped off the car, agreed to be able to pick it up by 2.00pm.  (drop off 8.30am.)  Then off AJ and I went to the mall for Breakfast.  My meal was fine, AJ's not so good.  Next we were off to the Government shop front to finally get AJ's US licence converted to an Aussie licence.  The next disappointment - They didn't want to accept the documents he had proving residency.  We needed to go home to get more papers to try again...but no car for 4 more hours.  I did manage to extend my car registration for another year.

The call from the vet to let me know Amber was heading into surgery...the wait begins.  Nervous, who me? Oh yeah.

Quick catch up with some awesome work friends back at the mall and finally the call to collect the car.  We head back up the road to get the car.  They haven't fixed a problem we mentioned and yay, another small problem requires a part that needs to be ordered.  Guess car goes back next week.  Not major issues, it's just so pesky is all.

Still waiting for the call that Amber is out of Surgery...

Home we go to get the extra papers.  And there sitting next to my driveway is Ebony!  My beautiful black lab has gotten out of my very secure yard and is looking very stressed.  Poor baby, first time she has ever and I mean ever been home alone, no AJ and no Amber.  She dug under the gate, no easy task.  Then it looks like she sat next to where the car should be.  When we pulled up she didn't move til AJ got out (thank GOD).  But golly, seeing her out scared me witless.  She is micro-chipped but not registered locally.  That was about to change.  We checked her paws, she has worn her nails down but no damage.

Finally the call from the vet.  Amber is out of surgery and is fine!  2 hrs of surgery!!!!

Another hour calling to check docs with Road Services and after contacts with the manager at the local branch we were sent back in with other doc's.  Needless to say, this time Ebony went with us.

So back to the Shop front, ask to speak to the Manager, doc's approved after a few more hiccups.  Then I completed the forms for both the girls to get registered.  AJ was pleased to say he was registered before the girls.

Good thing I don't do personal posts very often...

And at last, back tot he vet to collect my girl.  I walk in and can here her calling for attention.  I check if it is her and the vet nurser says yep...she wants home!

Then, I see her.  My goodness, the lump they removed was huge!  Bigger then an avocado.   She has a very long and nasty wound with a drain poking out each end.  ick!  The vet kept the tooth for us..go figure.  AJ thought it was cool to see the whole tooth.  We have medications, more vet appointments to remove drain, check ups and so on...  and twasn't cheap.  But she is worth every penny and more to us. Load her in the car, separate to Ebony and last stop home.

As I wrap up my rare but huge post, we are keeping the girl in separate ends of the house.  Aj with one and me with the other.  I have no wish to revisit wounds that get reopened by helpful playmates (been there done that!).  My Amber is crashed out with me felling very low now the painkillers are wearing off...poor baby.  And Ebony and AJ are crashed out up the other end of the house.  Ebony is very confused at not being allowed to play with Amber.

Me, I am really tired but want to sit with Amber as long as possible.  And soon I need to wake AJ up cos, the late nights aren't quite over...but that's a whole other story.

If you stayed through my whole story, thanks.  I know we are lucky that our hurdles today were all small and in the end easy to overcome, but oh, what a day!

Lucky Me

Just a quick post, this lovely bowl is full of Choc rocks and was made for my by my guy AJ...  He sourced the chocolate rocks, then went looking for the bowl and flowers and the butterfly (he didn't even raid my stash!).

The whole reason for this great gift is cos my work has been stressy lately and he wanted me to have something calming on my desk.  Plus he knows chocolate is my favourite comfort food.  He figured people would notice or recognise the choc rocks and it would be my little secret.

so, lucky me!

Chocolate Christmas House - Christmas 2011

For years I have had a baking mold for a ginger bread house but have never used it.  Partly because I don't really like ginger bread.

This year I decided that for Christmas I would use the baking mold to create a chocolate house instead.  I mostly  used Lyndt chocolate which tasted great but was very soft.

The hardest part was breaking it!  Tasted yum...

My Inspiration tree

Merry Christmas. As I head off to bed, I just want to post this picture of one of my pressies.

This great photo waterfall is now home to my inspiration corner. On my tree is some of my work, cards from friends and samples made in workshops.

I still have spaces left for more...

All caught up

As you can imagine I didn't do all that today. I have been slack about posting.

That was several months of crafting ( between work, life and WoW).

There are other cards but I didn't always take photos. Oh well, I can only try and be better with my posting.

Happy crafting...

uh oh It's been a while

Okies...So  it has been 6 months since I last posted.  I think that is probably AJ's fault.  Yep, thats my excuse.  Since he moved in I haven't had quite so much time to craft, and oh OK...I'm hopeless.

Anyways, I have been crafting and I will get AJ to help me take some pictures using the great light studio he got me for Christmas last year (I gues he might use the camera too).  Then I will try and get this all back up to date.

Disney

Oh, darn.  I just saw my Disney ATC's and I was reminded how much I love Disneyland.  Plus I got a bunch of new Disney stamps...okay I am going to make some cards based on Disney this weekend.  I will try and get them posted.

Ooh.  I am a happy camper and I am keen to get crafting...

Naughty Elle

Ok..  I know it's been a while.  I have been crafting and I will upload very soon.  I have been all caught up in finishing some home projects including building a new craft workshop.  I have now converted my garage into my ideal craft studio.  It is excellent.  I have nearly finished moving and organisng everything and wasn't that a lot of work.  Plus I have been all distracted the last few month waiting fro my AJ to move out here.  Well he will be here next week and then I will have a little more time to catch up my blog and post all my recent craft activitites.

So, in the next few weeks you will see soem more of my scrapbooking, a fabulous Centre Step card and a few other crafty cards.  I am LOVING my gypsy!

I'll be back soon

Now for some cards!

There are 2 more single page layouts that I had already finished but I will upload those later.  It is time to show what I have been working on this weekend.

Wow..It's 2010

It is hard to believe it is already 2010.  What does this mean for me.  Well, first my trip to the USA has been and gone... Sigh.  I had a great time in the US.  It was fantastic to spend a full month with AJ.  I admire his patience in putting up with me.  All that aside we had a great time.  We explored San Francisco, San Diego and the wider Los Angelas.  This was one of my best Christmas's ever and it wasn't just cos of the great pressies...

But one present I did get from AJ, was a new portable light studio.  Now I am setting aside the implied critisism of my craft photos to date (as it is well deserved...lol) and am instead thrilled with this great gift.  So weeks later I am home and have set up the studio and I hope my photos will now be clearer and sharper (remember it is still me taking the photos). So, I am about to post a bunch of pictures including the scrapbook layouts I did whilst on holiday and some cards I made just this weekend.  The cards are photograghed using the studio.  The Layouts are not...sorry!

Life and it's twist

Well, it's been a while. I haven't had a lot of time for craft or anything. Lots of family stuff happening. First I inherited one of my parents dogs. Leigh is lovely but I really didn't need or want another dog and it takes time away from my two. Oh well.

Then my brother and his partner split. So he is in the process of moving in. This also means that my 2yr old nephew is here every week. That means that aside from all the extra junk around here and the chaos of fitting my brother in, we also had to sorta child proof the house.

There is a craft update, but that will follow soon.

Well, It's been a while!

Seems like forever since I updated my blog. I have had heaps happening. From new job to emergency Surgery for Muttley Dog. I have been a busy bee. I finished the scrapbook for my friends son and apparently it was a big hit at his Birthday. It is back with me to do a final page of his actual 21st Birthday. I will get on that this week. I will also take the opportunity to scan the pages I did. I'll post them here for any one who is interested in seeing them. Have also been busy working on my Calendar contributions for 2009. I can't post those cos some of the ppl who may read this are in the Calendar swaps and I like for the Calendars to be a surprise.

I have some other projects to scan and post as well. I will try and get on top of that this week too.

Well, I will try and keep in touch at least once a week.

Busy

I haven't had much time to post the lat week or so. I have been pretty wrapped up in finalising my job ready to start my new job this coming week. It has been very hectic with some very late nights. I have got a little craft work done. I am currently working on a scrapbook for my friend, it's her sons 21st birthday next weekend. With only two weeks to get the job done I have been stretching my time and imagination. She wants to give it to him for his birthday and I am trying my best not to let her down. I hope to have more time to spend on my crafts and my blog once the new job is bedded down.

Happy crafting!
