Layout: the LOVE of a dog

My friend, my pal, my baby...My Ebony.

This layout was inspired by two challenge blogs:

once upon a sketch blog
scrap africa

Both blogs had great new sketches this week that helped to get the creative juices flowing.  On this page I was working on using layers.  Of course I had to be creative with the 6' paper to get all my layers looking right.

The Kaszazz designer paper I used as a base had words that referred to Ebony and Ivory, and a vision for a future where all live in harmony.  I thought this was perfect for my Ebony's page

The Prima Bling I cut in half to use on both sides at the bottom.  My journalling is hidden on a tag on the side...you can just see it poking out with it's little lace finish.  The journalling tells of how we love to spend time with the girls at the park and how for us it is 'Family' time.  And the two little flags were added last, I found them on the Prima packaging as I was cleaning up and thought, Wow, they are just what I need to finish this.  The wording on the top flag says 'memories with you' and the second one says ' cherished moments'

Supplies:

Kaszazz:  Tag, 12" Card Stock and 12"designer paper
Kaiser craft: 6" designer paper pad
Jolee's Boutique:  Lace
Prima: Bling, and the little flag embellies were cut out from the Prima packaging
Cricut and Gypsy: the words
Distress inks
Lindys Mists
Glossy Accents
Texture Paste

Off The Page: Canvas - Ebony

It seems like forever since I posted. I have been doing extra hours at work so have been pretty zapped.

A few weeks back there was a challenge at http://www.swirlydoos.com to use a technique or project kit from our stash. The same day Maggie from Scrap Travel and Bark ( I think I have that right), had a fabulous layout of her dogs. And the same day we had taken our girls to the park and took some great photo's.

So... I got started on this canvas. I have been trying to introduce layers and embellishments more into my work. For this canvas I used Tim Holtz tag techniques, I used flowers and I even used my Cricut to make my frame. Gosh, I love my gypsy, made it so easy to make the frame and refine it to what I wanted.

Here is a close up of the tag...

The tag reads- no matter how little money and how few possessions you own, having a dog makes you rich.

Here is a close up of the embellishments...

And here is my Ebony inspecting the finished product, lol...

She's so cute!

Card: Boots

I saw this challenge over at heather-bittenbythebug2 and thought golly why Garden boots.  But then I thought, think of it as a challenge.  It helped that my dads birthday is next week and I hadn't made a card yet, so as I scrolled through the boots I had on my cartridges til I found this one on the  'Dude' Cart.  It reminded me of my dad and his work boots, so I welded the image and it's blackout together into a card. Then I cut it out twice so I could add the steal caps and the contrast color inside. I added some depth by distressing and thuoght I was done...

When I took it to show AJ he said wheres the sole!  Darnit...  He was right, it needed a black rubber sole.  So back tot he craft room and out with the Distress Embossing powder ( had to open it...)

I am pretty impressed with the outcome and once again reminded that you can pop out a pretty impressive card in a short time when you play with the Cricut.

Supplies:
Gypsy - Tis where I do all my Cricut designing
Cricut
Bazzil Card Stock
Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powder

Pinwheel card in progress

This is the second pinwheel cutfile AJ made for me. This one has a star as the cut out.

The card is still on progress. But will be finished soon.

The centre has two layers, a stamped layer ( which I cut to small) and a plastic layer which I am using to both correct the size and create night and day,

I plan to attach the stamped circle to the plastic one.

For the stamping I used a roller stamp to create my city scape.

I will post finished version soon.... Currently waiting for glue and glitter to dry!

Cricut - top hat wedding card

A co worker/ friend Is off to India to get married this week. To celebrate this occasion we needed a card.

I had no idea so I went to mr Cricut folder to look got ideas. As soon as I saw the top hat on the "Weddings" cart I was ready to roll.

I turned the top hat into a card using my Gypsy. The I built the rest. I added the rings to give a bit more or a wedding feel.

You can't see it but I used glitz on the diamond and it really sparkles.

No words as I wasn't sure what would be appropriate but there is lots of space for messages.

Trying new things with scrapping

AJ challenged me to pose with the exhibits, I have no idea why but I did it.

Made for a fun day and a fun layout.

Cricut to the rescue for lettering, some rub-on's, add the receipt for park entry and page complete.

Scrapping Cabrillo

I like to look at other peoples pages, for colours or layouts. Then I set about making my own.

I used my Cricut for lettering and the ship, stamped on vellum for the compass. I even pulled out the wax seal to finish my little Square collage.

.

I used a charm, not to mention ribbon and have labels as my journaling.

All pretty advanced for me

Picking an element - using my Cricut

I really wanted to highlight the excellent carousel we found.

So I delved into my Cricut cartridges and found this great horse on Winter Wonderland. A few tweaks, a scourage thru the kitchen drawers to find a bamboo skewer and I have my own carousel horse to embellish the page.

A couple of stamped tickets cut out and attached and all done.

Cricut Files

Well, darn. I haven't found a good file sharing site. The one I thought was OK didn't work. So I have emailed my Cupcake cut file to those who requested it. I will continue to find a way to include the cut files on my blog for future availability.

My aim is to always learn new stuff even if that is just how to make files available for others. Have fun...

Cricut: Welding a cupcake!

Well, I am really getting into my Cricut. Yesterday I took a twirl at making a cupcake card. Shown here is the the background. I wanted the whole card to be in the shape of the cupcake...

And here is two finished cards.

Cricut Mania - Welding backgrounds

These two cards are made with good old George and Basic Shapes. I had a great time adding flowers til I had a nice array of blooms. Some didn't weld quite right but that's OK it's much better to play and learn as you go and even better again if you can turn your trial into some great cards. I am pretty happy with my first night at really digging into the features available to me on my Cricut.
