Memory File - Project Life, Snap and Heidi Swapp..my style!

Oodles of photos to follow.
With all my scrap supplies in transit from Oz to the US.  I have been keeping my scrapping simple.  Enter Heidi Swapp, Project Life and Sn@p Studio's.   With supplies from all three, plus my nifty  pocket photo printer,  and Costco photo service this is is my first Life in the US scrap file.

The picture above is the cover, still a work in progress..but I like where it is going.  Sorry the picture is a little blurry...

When it opens up I have a smaller flip file of the left.  This little folder captures a day trip as we checked out Connecticut.  On the right is a little tribute to my two Labs who have traveled to the USA with us..it was a big journey for them.
These next pictures show  our day at the Submarine Museum.  These pages use Sn@p stick in plastic pockets.  I LOVE these!

I have used Heidi Swapp Memory files and embellishments.

You can see some Tim Holtz embellishments hiding on these pages.

Project Life mini kits along with Sn@p pockets are an awesome way to add extra stuff to pages.

For this page I used a simple card technique, so I could capture show a few photos of my girls and tell the story of their move to the USA.

As part of getting a new car, I had temp plates first in New York State and then in Connecticut.  So to do that I used some Tim Holtz hardware.  And under you can see where I saved a map given to my by the Hire Car company when I first got to New York.

I kept the little paper bag (that I asked for, hehehehe) when I purchased a few souvenirs at Liberty Island from our trip to see the Statue of Liberty.  It's a great scrappable.

Not only do I have a great scrap page I also have a cool pocket to keep things in.

I used every surface to add notes and brochures.

Again another paper bag that makes for a great memory.  This is the food section of my file.  So I have lots of brochures and some pictures....I Love how this came together.

Dont you just love these Sn@ap these photo flips!  These are from a variety pack.
And used with project life it is so quick to add journalling.

And as you can see here you can just keep open the brochures to see more brochures...cool!

I hope you enjoyed this look at my most recent project.

Thanks for visiting!

Layout - Color Pop!

I am so lucky that I have a lovely sister, even better she is pretty and likes to have her photo taken.  We were lucky enough to have her visit us for a brief holiday last year and we ended up with lots of photos...but this is one of my favorites and I have been looking fro the best way to scrap this picture.

Recently I came across Pop and Colour #2 - this blog has tutorials for using color in layouts.  My layout was inspired by the work of Riika and Georgia in their tutorials.

I had a great time playing with color, layers and texture.

My base page is from this Minds Eye Paper pad

I used scraps cut into various sized strips as the first layer of texture and contrast - I then used a credit card to cover the strips with white Gesso.

I then added some iridescent white paint to texture paste and used a Kaszazz stencil (the best stencil ever - it was very solid and didn't feel like it would break as I dragged the paste across it).

Next I added a couple of drops of Lumiarte Paint to the page and spritzed it with water

The picture above shows what it looked like when the paint was dry.

Next up I dropped a few drops of Weather Wood Distress reinker on the page

Then I hit them with the mini mister, lift the page and let it all run...

And here's how it looks now the paints have dried again.

For the next step I used Distress Stain with a Prima Stencil

And ended up with my background looking like this.

To finish I used a text stamp to stamp in a few of the whiter areas, and a grunge stamp in a few other places.  I stamped 'Adorable' on the top of a tag, and glued down some black cotton.  Finally I did a little journalling on the bottom of the tag.

I though about adding some more embellishments but I liked it just like this

I hope you enjoyed this look at how I made this layout.

Hugs and Happy Crafting

Card - Dress Form, Easel Card

Hello Blog land!  Today I wanted to post pictures of some cards I made for friends this week.  I started off planning to just make one card, but it was so much fun and so easy I made 4.

These cards are all easel cards.  Made using the Tim Holtz Sewing Room - dress form die, Prima papers and some odds an ends around the craft room.

The example above was made with feathers, ribbon and rub-ons.

These 2 cards were each made with an assortment of ribbons and lace.  I was looking for the shabby chic look.

This one was made by cutting lengths of ribbon and adhering them in place.  I added a little wool trim to spice it up.

Thanks for checking out my card projects.

Happy crafting til net time,
Elle

Mini Album - USA 1: January 2013

Hey Blogger's

It's been a while since I posted.  But I have been crafting.  Finally got a chance to record a clip of the first (of probably a few) mini albums I will make to capture the memories of my trip to the USA in January of this year.

Now it's time to get the photos in...

Cheers

Layout: Frontierland

Note:  No papers were harmed (burnt) in the making of this layout!

Introducing...AJ.

This is one of my favorite moments from our recent trip over seas.  The gorgeous Prima (Craftsman collection) journal card tucked in behind the photo tells the tale of stumbling on the this Canon In the Disneyland Theme park.  I noted how AJ always wants me to pose and he is forever taking my picture...sigh. But this time I got him in on the action and boy did I get some great shots.

The tickets stubs reflect the date (hidden at the back), the Who (AJ), What (Defending Disney), Where ( Frontierland) , and then the third one is filled in to say Disneyland, Jan 2013.  The banner has Frontierland spelt out in stickers, AJ tells me the title almost looks like a Fort!

Tis a little bit strange..I have used chipboard in two layouts this weekend.  I love using Chipboard but struggle to find it in my local stores... Am very surprised to have found two pieces in my small collection that both made their way into a layout on the same weekend. :P

Card: Creative Card Crew Challenge - Tree: Surprise Box

Wow, it's time again for another challenge over at Creative Card Crew.   For this challenge we are sponsored by the amazing Simon Says Stamp.

Our challenge theme - Tree!!!

I have to say, I was a bit bewildered at the idea of 'tree', then I was inspired by a die that I have called Eves tree.  Well, it didn't get me thinking about Eve, but it did get me thinking about Alice.

Like so many people I  know, I love pattern paper.  I particularly love Graphic 45.  But also like many I struggle with the idea of using this awesome paper.  So, I did.  I cut 2 12x12 sheets and I created my very own Halloween in Wonderland Surprise box (also known as exploding box).  With my centre piece being the tree.  Hiding in the tree is the Cheshire cat, because, well where else would he be?

Here is a peak at my tree, cat included:

Following are some close ups of the decorations on the outside.  I kept them pretty low key.  I wanted the inside to be where all the action is...

As usual Mr Holtz and the truly awesome Lindy's were on hand to help out... when thinking Halloween how does one goes past the 'On the fence' die by TH alterations?  And Lindy's sprays were as invaluable as ever in providing colour.  Must mention there's some Distress stain in here too.

The next picture shows a little of the detail once the box is opened.

And here  I have included a quick picture of my tree in progress (I used 9 die cut trees to make the finished tree) along with a picture of the finished project.

Finally,   following is a close up of the top of the Surprise box.

Lots of pictures in this post, I hope not to many. Thanks for visiting.

Supplies:
Cardstock:  Bazzil
Papers:  Graphic 45 - Halloween in Wonderland
Flowers:  Kaiser craft, Wild Orchid Crafts
Die's:  MPress - Eves Tree, Tim Holts - Hardware
Colours:  Distress Stain, Lindy's Stamp Gang Sprays and Mists

CCC: On the Beach/Under the Sea

Hi, it's time for my first entry as a DT member for Creative Card Crew. The creativity of the team over at CCC is awesome and I am thrilled to have been asked to join the team.

This weeks challenge is On the Beach / Under the Sea.  Our sponsor this week is the very talented  Michelle Perkett, click the link to visit her Etsy shop and see all her great images.

Pop along to Creative Card Crew to check out the inspiration from the rest of the team...

The image for my card is one of Michelle's digis.  It has been coloured with Promarkers, Prisma pencils and I created my background with some of Lindy's awesome mists (using the sponge cap). I used Prima Papers and some Alterations dies to make my seaweed.  The sentiment is a favourite from Kaszazz.

Come on over and play along to have a chance to win a prize.

Cheers
