ATC - Halloween theme

Continuing my current interest in ATC's, I signed up for another few swaps on Swap bot.

This swap had an easy theme at least I thought so til I realized I don't have much Halloween themed stuff....but I made do and love the finished cards.

Two recipients each to receive one ATC each.

Hope they like them.

Prima Art Venture 2014 - The missed opportunity, the kits and finally the glee

I booked early for the California Prima Art Venture scheduled for January this year and I can tell you I was excited for the better part of six months, I anticipated the event with glee...  But as luck would have to have it...I never made it to LA in January .  This was pretty disappointing but life happens..

Luckily for me, the people at Prima were awesome, they sent me all the goodies from the retreat.  And those goodies came today.  Opening the box was soooo exciting, inside were these awesome pizza boxes which look totally cool and have one thinking how to reuse them - they certainly cant be discarded!

Five project kits in Pizza boxes, each kit focused on a different Prima Collection...more detail about each kit in posts to follow (I plan to work through them kit by kit).  Each of these kits includes an instruction sheet fro the project - I did see lots of great goodies like stamps and stencils as I browsed the boxes.

The last kit was in a big plastic bag - I am pretty sure this is the kit from Finabar's class and she is not an instruction kind of gal...I am told that class was more hands on and visual...no worries I can have lots of fun with that.  This kits had not 1 but 4 stencils...Yippee ( More Happy dance), a book and embellishments...ooh!
Also in my big box of goodies were some gifts from Prima.  An awesome canvas tote full of goodness like an Ingvil Bolme distressing tool and craft knife (both formally on my wish list - pretty cool), scissors, two bottles of Glue (scotch and fabri tac), pop dots..

Also a Prima bag brimming with more goodness, paper pads paints, ink pads, flowers, embellishments, mediums.

Needless to say...I have lots of projects to work on now...

Happy crafting

Mini Album - Envelope Mini

Hey!  Last weekend I managed to make some time to craft and one of the things near the top in my completely packed craft room (packing to move, everything is in boxes) was some envelopes and my ever favorite Prima Paper pads.

So, an envelope mini album evolved.

For the covers I used Prima Ledger 12x12 paper, but for all the internal pages I used a 6x6 Prima paper pad.

I kept the cover pretty simple  - I loved the paper just as it was, and as this was going to be given away I wanted to keep the outside very flat for easy shelf storage.

I used the envelopes for the foundation  and simply covered them with paper.

For extra pages I used the cards that came with the envelopes.
In most cases I secured the card in to make an extra page.  But in a few cases I left it as a card insert so that the album included extra photo mats.
I added a few tags.  In the picture above I made a little tag card that is in the shape of a onsie...I was going to decorate it more but I ran out of time.

Most I kept the page decoration simple with only the decorative paper.  On some pages I added a border punch creating a holder for photos or tags.

And in other places I added a small embellishment to create a photo holder.
Lots of space for full size photos
In my mind As I was making this I was thinking of a friend who is about to have a baby.  And I though this paper was nice given I didn't know if it was boy or girl.
I used Kathy Orta's hidden hinge binding method.  One thing I did note was to be careful not to join the pages all the way to the bottom of the binding as it makes the pages a little harder to lie flat.

Making an album this way is pretty quick.  I made this one in a day and that is definitely my quickest from start to finish

Thanks for popping by.

Card - Dress Form, Easel Card

Hello Blog land!  Today I wanted to post pictures of some cards I made for friends this week.  I started off planning to just make one card, but it was so much fun and so easy I made 4.

These cards are all easel cards.  Made using the Tim Holtz Sewing Room - dress form die, Prima papers and some odds an ends around the craft room.

The example above was made with feathers, ribbon and rub-ons.

These 2 cards were each made with an assortment of ribbons and lace.  I was looking for the shabby chic look.

This one was made by cutting lengths of ribbon and adhering them in place.  I added a little wool trim to spice it up.

Thanks for checking out my card projects.

Happy crafting til net time,
Elle

Mini Album - Baby Book

This little 6x6 Gate Fold Mini is completely inspired by Ginger of My Sister's Scrapper  http://youtu.be/-bjZ4bkUKNo.

Ginger provides super awesome instructions and I couldn't resist giving it a go.  This is also the first time I have made a mini for the purpose of giving it away.  It came together much quicker then I expected and I really liked the finished product.

The person I gave it to seemed to really like it - she has a a little girl about 3 yrs old and thought she might use it to pop a few of her pictures in.

The album has 6 pages on each side.

I used a combination of Prima's 6x6 Jack and Jill paper pad as well as some nursery rhyme papers I had from a few years back.

Each page is a pocket and I kept the pages pretty simple,

On the last page or back cover the tab can be lifted for an extra photo
 mat.

And this are the tabs I made for each pocket.  I included little journal tabs on most of these as they act as both an anchor for a photo and or a place to right a little comment.

Layout: Frontierland

Note:  No papers were harmed (burnt) in the making of this layout!

Introducing...AJ.

This is one of my favorite moments from our recent trip over seas.  The gorgeous Prima (Craftsman collection) journal card tucked in behind the photo tells the tale of stumbling on the this Canon In the Disneyland Theme park.  I noted how AJ always wants me to pose and he is forever taking my picture...sigh. But this time I got him in on the action and boy did I get some great shots.

The tickets stubs reflect the date (hidden at the back), the Who (AJ), What (Defending Disney), Where ( Frontierland) , and then the third one is filled in to say Disneyland, Jan 2013.  The banner has Frontierland spelt out in stickers, AJ tells me the title almost looks like a Fort!

Tis a little bit strange..I have used chipboard in two layouts this weekend.  I love using Chipboard but struggle to find it in my local stores... Am very surprised to have found two pieces in my small collection that both made their way into a layout on the same weekend. :P

Layout: Capture the Magic

Back from holidays, unpacking complete.  Craft room re organisation complete!  I might have brought home a few things...  And the other big things is I stopped past Office Works with my trusty SD card and printed off 452 photos, plus three in a larger photo size.  So when the weekend rolled around and overtime got cancelled I decided to jump in and start scrappin the memories.

This layout is extra special because the actual layout started at CHA in an awesome workshop at the Clearsnap booth.  Following is a picture of the project.  But since I don't currently scrap in the 8' by 8' it was a fun to take the class layout and make into a 12' layout and at the same time start using some of those photos...

Huge thanks to Cathie Allan who designed this project and the Clearsnap team for giving me the opportunity to take part in one of their workshops.

Supplies:
Clear Snap tool and supplies including: Ink; Colorbox pigment inks, Smooch and Top Boss Emboss.  White Card stock.
Stamps:  Impression Obsession
Dies:  Spellbinders

My additions:
Embellishments:  Vintage crochet doily's, Lace trim, Prima Flower
Chipboard:  WOW

Mini Album: USA 2012

For the last few trips I have taken to creating my own travel journal mini album.  This is important to me as the only time I keep a journal is when I travel.

This year I made all the pages based on a combinations of techniques, the page construction was inspired by the following project on You tube called Happy Haunting Mini Album.  Here is the link: Happy Hauntings Mini Album

Rather then take lots of picture I took a little video to show my album.  Please note the audio starts off absent of sound but suddenly cuts in. I will have to work on my video techniques ...

Supplies:

Kaszazz - DS Papers, Rub-ons, Stamps
Prima - Papers
Kaiser - Ephemera
Lace, Charms and adhoc jewellery supplies.

Next up is AJ's mini Album.  It will be much much much smaller...  He doesn't usaully journal as often but he does like to jot down some experiences.

Cheers

Layout: More

It's been a week of long hours at work, I have had a cold (again) and just feel so tired, but Am happy to say that spending time in the craft room was just what I needed.  I completed this layout of Ebony using the the sketch from Lets Capture These Sketches.  I didn't mess with the sketch, it appealed to me just as it was.  I love that when I work from a sketch I am not influenced by papers or colours, so I can take the sketch and make it mine.

This sketch gave me a chance to play with layers...  it's good to keep playing with elements that I wouldn't normally use.

The title is... One more please

I picked that title because a day at the dog park means taking off for adventures and games of fetch, and that happy doggy face just made me think she wanted us to toss a stick...again!

Supplies

Cardstock:  Bazzill
Papers:  Prima, Kc & Company
Dies: Cheery Lynn - doilies, Memory Box -Frame
Butterfly's are from LittleScrapShop
Lindys

Layout: the LOVE of a dog

My friend, my pal, my baby...My Ebony.

This layout was inspired by two challenge blogs:

once upon a sketch blog
scrap africa

Both blogs had great new sketches this week that helped to get the creative juices flowing.  On this page I was working on using layers.  Of course I had to be creative with the 6' paper to get all my layers looking right.

The Kaszazz designer paper I used as a base had words that referred to Ebony and Ivory, and a vision for a future where all live in harmony.  I thought this was perfect for my Ebony's page

The Prima Bling I cut in half to use on both sides at the bottom.  My journalling is hidden on a tag on the side...you can just see it poking out with it's little lace finish.  The journalling tells of how we love to spend time with the girls at the park and how for us it is 'Family' time.  And the two little flags were added last, I found them on the Prima packaging as I was cleaning up and thought, Wow, they are just what I need to finish this.  The wording on the top flag says 'memories with you' and the second one says ' cherished moments'

Supplies:

Kaszazz:  Tag, 12" Card Stock and 12"designer paper
Kaiser craft: 6" designer paper pad
Jolee's Boutique:  Lace
Prima: Bling, and the little flag embellies were cut out from the Prima packaging
Cricut and Gypsy: the words
Distress inks
Lindys Mists
Glossy Accents
Texture Paste
