The theme of this swap bot swap was 1,2,3.

As it is Christmas I used some cute little penguins for my interpretation.   Stamps and Dies from Lawn Fawn, Technique Tuesday and Papertrey Ink.

Super cute and super fun to make.

From one Penguin...

to two of them...

and from two penguins...we go to three...1,2,3.

Boxes - Quick n Cute

I wanted to give a little gift to a couple of work colleagues.  I had some chocolates from Australia but wanted to make them look pretty.  So I whipped out the envelope punch board, some 6 x 6 designer paper and these little gift bags came to life.

Some stamping and a little twine to finish them off and my little gifts were ready to go...

The inspiration for this was found on you tube...Go find this video (see link below) if you want instructions to make this little cutie.

Thanks for stopping bye

Junk Journal - The journey to 2013

Hey...More about my junk journal journey - This is a big post as I detail my smash book, junk journal journey.

For my first smash book (that's what it started as) I used a cheap art book, I think it cost 2 dollars.  It had a nasty black plastic cover.

To make it more mine I covered the cover with tissue paper and lost of white pearlised paint and a big ribbon which I also painted.  That's where I left the front cover...as least for now!

On the inside (and I did this much later after I had been using the book a while) I spritzed with some Lindy's Stamp gang sprays...well actually on the inside cover I dripped the spray on more then sprayed...but on the back cover I sprayed.

On the first page I made a note that this was my first smash book and that it would hold anything that I couldn't be bothered to scrap.  And that could be anything...which you can see from wrapping paper from a gift to a metro pass.  And I didnt give any thought to keeping things in order.  AS I found stuff it went in.  Witch was a great chance to pop in little memories about the items.

Even from early on some pages I really like and others I wished could be better...but the purpose of this was to not lose the little mementos I had kept.  And I started to enjoy writing the stories that went with them,.

About Now we also decide to make a big move, and started cleaning out the house ready for packing...this resulted in two things.  Heaps more stuff for the book and the realization I am a pack rat..sigh

Even as the pile of of old bits and bobs grew, I was creating new moments as we painted the house and made arrangements to move and that's when this started to evolve into what I am calling a junk journal.  I use that phrase to describe the adhoc nature of capturing mementos from the past while noting current happenings.

One page might be a receipt from Girl Guides camp (a long time ago..) and it could be right next to a ticket from a movie a few years back.

I found myself popping the current days polaroid picture (I love the instant gratification), a the receipt for garden supplies with notes about the progress of our plans in the book in between pages that had things from trips a few years ago.

I kept a copy of an old bank statement and one of my early pay slips, and the junk journal gave me a quick place to record the the history of the document or the memory it brought back.

Where do you keep old pet records...some of my mine found a way into this book and golly it felt good giving them a home.

I mentioned in a previous post how my junk journal has also become my first art book...and I have to say the pages with the pre prepped backgrounds really pop.

Lost of pages are multi layer, ie things open to show more...

Since I started this journey I find myself keeping more small things that I can quickly pop in with notes to remind me why I kept it.

I think my next junk journal will be more current (I think most of my old keepsakes are pretty close to in, or will be int he last few pages in the book) but I really loved  this journey and the memories it let me relive.

I would recommend Smash booking or junk journal to anyone.  It is fun in a different way to scrap booking.

I am already working on creating the basis for my next junk journal...it will be in a post soon.

Thanks for popping past and if I helped inspire even one person to try this journey I will feel pretty awesome.

Happy craftin!

Layout: Frontierland

Note:  No papers were harmed (burnt) in the making of this layout!

Introducing...AJ.

This is one of my favorite moments from our recent trip over seas.  The gorgeous Prima (Craftsman collection) journal card tucked in behind the photo tells the tale of stumbling on the this Canon In the Disneyland Theme park.  I noted how AJ always wants me to pose and he is forever taking my picture...sigh. But this time I got him in on the action and boy did I get some great shots.

The tickets stubs reflect the date (hidden at the back), the Who (AJ), What (Defending Disney), Where ( Frontierland) , and then the third one is filled in to say Disneyland, Jan 2013.  The banner has Frontierland spelt out in stickers, AJ tells me the title almost looks like a Fort!

Tis a little bit strange..I have used chipboard in two layouts this weekend.  I love using Chipboard but struggle to find it in my local stores... Am very surprised to have found two pieces in my small collection that both made their way into a layout on the same weekend. :P

Paper:  Kaszazz

Layout: Capture the Magic

Back from holidays, unpacking complete.  Craft room re organisation complete!  I might have brought home a few things...  And the other big things is I stopped past Office Works with my trusty SD card and printed off 452 photos, plus three in a larger photo size.  So when the weekend rolled around and overtime got cancelled I decided to jump in and start scrappin the memories.

This layout is extra special because the actual layout started at CHA in an awesome workshop at the Clearsnap booth.  Following is a picture of the project.  But since I don't currently scrap in the 8' by 8' it was a fun to take the class layout and make into a 12' layout and at the same time start using some of those photos...

Huge thanks to Cathie Allan who designed this project and the Clearsnap team for giving me the opportunity to take part in one of their workshops.

Supplies:
Clear Snap tool and supplies including: Ink; Colorbox pigment inks, Smooch and Top Boss Emboss.  White Card stock.

Card: A little bit of fun

It's been a crazy week, trying to keep up with work and craft and still recovering from the Flu.  This card was a challenge to complete.  I just kept making small boo boo's. I add smudged ink to fix, the kraft card stock shrank when I was wetting, crumbling and drying, and many other small glitches.

But I persevered and all up and I pleased with the finished product.

There were lots of challenges that gave me inspiration for this card...will try and list them all below. Some may have already ended (I was a bit slow...sigh).

Card: Believe

Last week I made a card and in my Flu induced dopiness accidently listed it as having used a House Mouse stamp when In fact I had used Penny Black.  Such a silly mistake.  Well, I fixed the post to read the correct thing and then decided to backtrack and make a House Mouse card and here it is.  I kept it pretty simple but I think it is cute.

Supplies

Stamp House Mouse - Dragon Flying 002
Boss Kut Die - Believe
Magnolia Die - Fence
Mpress dies - Frame
Distress crackle - Picket Fence
Distress Ink - Vintage Photo
Lindys Mists.

Coloured with Promarkers and Prisma Pencils.

Card: Summer Fun

I recently bought some new stamps from Whimsy Stamps and included was the sentiment 'Spread your wings and let the fairy in you fly', what an awesome sentiment.  So today I wanted to make a quick card (still have the flu and cant do anything for to long...) and I picked this great House mouse stamp, and as soon as I started colouring I thought of the sentiment.  I was bold and used both red and pink....risky but I think (hope) it worked.

Supplies:

Penny Black stamp  (editied, oopsies cant believe I wrote the wrong stamp)
Whimsy Stamp and die
C'ordinations cardstock
Scrap paper
Coloured with distress markers

Challenges:

Daring Card Makers

Stampin Royalty
Penny black at all sorts

Card: A challenge

This is my personal challenge card.  Was very definitely inspired by the Here come the boys   Blog.   But also, I was determined to use of the the Michael Powell stamps that I have and make it work for me.  The reason being that these are such detailed stamps, I have to say they have overwhelmed me.

But, with distress markers and determination, I made this one work.  At least I hope so!  And this care will work in my male category.

Supplies:

Kaszazz:  Card stock, Tag
Tim Holtz:  Distress Markers
India Ink
Whimsy Design:  Label dies, label stamp
Twine
Anchor charm

Card: Tea anyone?

Having found my inspiration and my mojo I made two cards, mostly because I love this stamp!

Card: Pretty in Pink, or is that Purple

Then, I checked my blog.  Thank god for my blog.  There was the inspiration I needed, all I had to do was follow the link to the Shabby Tea Room and check out the weekly challenge.
